Hey everyone! Hope you're doing well. Things here in Sweden are really good right now! I'm really in love with this country, even though it has been a rough semester. Here is a cute blog post about some of the things that are so lovable about this country: http://blogs.sweden.se/expat/2011/11/17/43-things-i-love-about-sweden/ In September my boyfriend and I were victims of fraud by a guy who was, what we thought, going to be our future landlord. He stole several months of rent from us- and we don't know if he is going to be punished or anything. Here is an article (in Swedish) about that: http://www.hemhyra.se/Sidor/De-blev-blasta-pa-Blocket.aspx I may have some fun news to report to you all next week- so check back! Hello! I am so sorry but I can't keep blogging. School is so busy, life is so busy. I will continue one day and I am so grateful for all of my lovely friends who took the time to read what I had to say and looked at the photos I wanted to show. Hope you are well! See you in the future! (some rosemary, gryere, beer bread I made this summer!) Seattle is a fine city! 09/08/2011
Well, this is long overdue! I promised back in July that I'd post about my trip to Seattle, which was combined with my Vancouver visit. What a whirlwind it was! Me, Cara, Dave and Nat drove from Vancouver and it was a gorgeous day. Traffic on the way there really sucked but we made it in one piece. hej america! (from instagram, which, by the way, you can follow me at rachlach2) oh, how i wish pike place market was in every city i inhabited. busy market! Ranier cherries, only from Washington State! sorry only iphone pictures! =( Long live America, and cheap shopping! We went to a real arcade! Good thing they recorded every move we made there! I'm telling you! This was a real arcade. Where it prints out tickets you can accumulate and buy cool prizes! They had a carousel! Then we visited the gum wall. We bought some cheese at Beechers! If you go to Seattle, you must go there and try their mac and cheese! Then we went to the Seattle Art Museum (SAM)'s restaurant called: SAM TASTE. I would definitely recommend it. They serve local food and drinks and though it's a bit yuppyish, the staff were nice and the food was incredible. I tried nettle and mushroom (I don't remember what kind of mushrooms) soup. Sorry for the bad picture quality. Accompanied by some local brew. Dave got a funny caesar salad. The funnest part of dinner was the dessert. We ordered a cookie plate. With a round of milk shots for everyone to finish off the day! It was perfect. On the way back we were forced to pay lotsa money for the washington wine we purchased, but it was all in a days' adventure. I wouldn't mind to live in Seattle. You should probably go visit there now. Have a great day! Parsley Chicken Lettuce Wrap 09/06/2011
I made this fresh summer dinner a couple of weeks ago. Just mix red onion, parsley, avocado, tomatoes together (and season), spread a layer of the mix on some romaine lettuce, fry some chicken (seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika) and wrap it all up! The song is from Four Tet! la la la la lunnnndd 09/06/2011
So, what's new here in Lund? The city is bustling with new students, and old... people are testing out their new second hand bikes, and buying their school books. The vines are at their prime before they turn to fall and then I will long for them to come back again. The sun comes out once in a while. The University House Fountain has been cleaned and is in full function. lots to do and see in our university city! hej sverige! 08/22/2011
Hey Sweden! I'm back in Sweden and it's great! The weather is boring, the city is bustling and I'm loving every moment. I missed it here. I missed the chanterelles and the scanner things at ICA grocery store, I missed the train and the smell of the ocean. I miss Canada of course, some of the things of the top of my head are: the sun, having a fully stocked kitchen and my momma- but I will survive, at least for this last year of school. I will be moving to Malmö on September 10! Which is very exciting news because it is a new city to explore and enjoy. Me and Stina got some ice cream! <3 In further news, I get to see my fella on Wednesday, after so many months- I really can't wait. OH YEAH IM SORRY 07/28/2011
Hello! Well, as you may have noticed... I had my blog temporarily password protected so I could update it, but as you may have also noticed, I haven't updated anything! Well the thing is, I greatly underestimated the time it would take to create my new layout, design etc... and I am not ready to do it yet (I was hoping it would coincide with my 6 month blogging anniversary on July 11th) so here is my good old blog, my other things stored away(perhaps forever?) in dreamweaver. I got bored of not blogging so I'm back to you and I promise to never leave you for so long again with the password page. I never want to lock you out my head or my heart! So in recent news, I met a fellow (adil) who is doing a 365 day photo "challenge" (for lack of better words) and he inspired me to perhaps do the same thing, but with videos... and instead of 365, it would be more like 52. One video a week. This is a fine idea because it would force me to use my camera, which I often neglect, and it would also help me to try out new techniques in film making. Anyways, that's all boring stuff! Have a perfect day! colombie brittanique 07/09/2011
Last week I was in Vancouver and it was really nice. The sun stayed out for my visit and there were a lot of very cool things to do. For example we went to The Secret Garden Tea house and had this beautiful tea. The colour looked super natural! We drank my new favourite white wine, Kung Fu Girl! And ate maple leaf shaped candy in honour of Canada Day! We went to a pie competition and we tasted over 25 pies! We had to vote for our favourite... And I chose these people in the presentation category for their cheddar and apple pie! The city is still in repair after the recent riots that broke out after the Stanley Cup final... there were lots of messages all over apologizing for the fiasco. There were thousands of people downtown for Canada day celebrations. And we made our way to the olympic square to find a space to watch the fireworks. We found a nice place to sit, and tell secrets! and we watched the beautiful fireworks... I took these pictures using my bokeh heart cut out on top of my lens! And that was some of my Vancouver trip. We also took a day trip to Seattle but I will save that for another day! Beirut has some new songs... it's perfect for a Friday night in with a cold. Isn't their album artwork so cute? The song Goshen is really nice. You can listen here. Also, I'm pretty sure I've already talked about Noah and the Whale's new album but here is their newest video for the song: Life is Life. I first saw Noah and the Whale when they opened for Phoenix in November of 2009. Then my friends gave me concert tickets as a moving in gift in February of 2010. They are a really nice band from the UK. I love how striking the red is in this video, don't you? | AuthorHey! I'm Rachelle and this is my personal blog.
